Eugene Kazakov
Brand designer, Austin, TX
I do brand strategy, naming, identity and creative direction — and the design work that makes them real. For the past six years, that has mostly meant residential real estate: landmark conversions and new developments, primarily in Moscow. Now I live and work in Austin.
Moscow → Tbilisi → New York → Austin.
I don't make brands up.
The projects I'm proudest of started with reading the product before drawing anything. A lane's name turned out to be a biography, and the biography turned into a residents' club. A swimming pool became a whole identity. Forty-six apartments went under contract in the first two days, without a single interior rendering. None of it was invented. It was already there; my job was to find it and make it look obvious.
What I stay away from
Premium real estate is full of women holding wine glasses and the same five adjectives. I'd rather give a project the one thing only it can say — and keep everything around it quiet.
How I work
I work across the whole chain and still do the design myself: identity systems, type, illustration, websites. I use AI where it earns its place: Midjourney for mood and campaign images, other tools for research and for code when I prototype and build. I say where I used it. I’m transparent about where I use it.
I work best in writing: clear briefs, written feedback, async reviews.
Let's talk
Building something that deserves its own story?
I work with teams and clients on brand strategy, naming, identity and creative direction. I'm also open to full-time roles in Austin or remotely.
Write to me — a brief isn't required.
